On an October evening in Muxía, Spain – the place medievals called “the end of the world” – five strangers arrive separately at a pilgrim inn.

A Boston woman who has just walked 1,600 kilometers away from a 23-year marriage. A young man, eight months sober, finishing his Camino on a bus. A Canadian couple on their fourth Camino, contemplating retirement and what matters most. A Spanish teacher carrying her dead brother’s stone. Their host, a French chef who escaped corporate kitchens, has never walked the Camino himself.

A communal meal at the end of their journey leads to laughter, confessions, and unexpected grace.

It’s a story about the challenges we carry, the questions we haven’t answered, and the strangers who sometimes see us best.

THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU IF:

You’ve ever wondered if it is too late to change your life.

You feel pulled to something more – but can’t quite name it.

You crave genuine connections in an increasingly disconnected world.

You’ve stood at a crossroads and chosen to keep going… or wish you had.

You’ve poured yourself into caring for others and forgotten what fills you up.

The Pilgrim’s Table captures the spirit and energy of the Camino de Santiago. A must read! BRAVO!

Just finished this book and it was wonderful! I loved the in depth look at how each of the complex and interesting characters is processing all that they have been through and what it means going forward. I’ve read just about every Camino book I can get my hands on, and I do not recall reading any that deal with the “what next” aspect of pilgrimage. It is clear from the writing that the author has walked a pilgrimage or two.

I recommend this book for travelers, for those who need time alone to process life, for anyone planning a trip to Europe, for walkers (long-distance or otherwise), and for those in service of others. I read it much faster than I normally read. That's how compelling it was.

The Pilgrim's Hearth

The Pilgrim's Hearth

Available: July 2026

Before the table, something started the fire.

Matthieu Dubois reached the summit of his profession and found nothing there worth keeping. A decorated chef in Geneva, he caught sight of his own face in a sheet of polished steel one bad night and understood he had climbed the wrong mountain.

His grandmother, who walked the Camino in her youth, sends him to Spain with a few quiet words and an old kitchen knife. He goes to watch the pilgrims arrive, with no intention of becoming one.

What he finds at the end of the road is a cold parish house on a granite spit, a hundred-year-old table that has heard every word a village ever needed to say, and a hearth that has not been lit in years.

The Pilgrim’s Hearth is the story of the man who relit it.

From the author of The Pilgrim’s Table – a Camino Chronicles prequel novella.

The Pilgrim's Letter

Available: July 2026

Some burdens are inherited. Some are borrowed.
Some you carry so long you stop asking why.

The Pilgrim’s Letter is the story of a man who spent his life in service to other people’s journeys. Now, with a sealed letter in one pocket and a dead man’s stone in his hand, Matthieu Dubois finally walks his own.

From the author of The Pilgrim’s Table – Book Two of the Camino Chronicles.

Kevin Donahue began walking pilgrimage routes across Europe, the United Kingdom, and the U.S.A. in 2019. The host of the Sacred Steps Podcast, his work reflects a deep belief that the most meaningful journeys are measured not in miles but in the lives impacted.
